Apple is going to shut down connect feature in Apple Music

Apple is going to give up their second attempt to create something as social network within their music app. They have revealed that from 13th December 2018 on wards they won’t post content on connect section of Apple Music. This is  confirmed by “Connect posts from artists are no longer supported” lines  from Apple.com.

Apple used connect as a platform to link musicians and their fans and a standout feature of the service when Apple Music was introduced at WWDC 2015. Jimmy Lovine stated  connect as one of the three major pillars of Apple Music along with streaming  music service and Beats Radio.

Lovine also stated that its a very useful platform for musicians especially upcoming ones as they can share their performance in a platform like this.

Apple  obviously expected connect to be some kind of SoundCloud and Twitter hybrid.Artists can post behind the scenes clips in recording studio, alternate lyrics, demo recordings and outtakes or whatever at any number to make their fans come back. These reminded the iTunes ping which was abandoned 2 years ago.

Apple has removed the dedicated connect tab from the bottom navigation bar with iOS 10 release in 2016.Now it is going to entirely remove connect. But we can search connect’s posts until May 29th next year.

Apple Music is a good music streaming destination but the service has lost its one of the three things that they said their best option on market.
