Microsoft has already said about its effort to regulate facial recognition technology. Now Microsoft is taking huge steps regarding this as deleting its MS Celeb database that is containing 10 million images of some 100,000 people.
Above database was originally published in 2016. It was said as Microsoft’s very biggest database of facial recognition data set. It is used for training of facial recognition systems by military researchers and global tech firms. People who appeared in this data set are not asked individual consent. The images are from the internet under Creative Commons License.
This data set is containing the images of private individuals such as security journalists. Even though now its deleted. It has been already spread.
This effort shows Microsoft is really keen on legislative issues.
