Official Touchscreen Support Receives for Raspberry Pi

After long way, there is a good news for developers and users of raspberry pi. Until now, touchscreen support was provided with the help of customized Linux kernels for raspberry pi .

Dmitry Torokhov issued a git pull request . It says that update will support for the 7-inch, 800×480 display in the mainline kernel for the official Raspberry Pi Touchscreen.

The changes were pushed to Linux 4.21 kernel  . The driver will get data from a memory mapped area via the Raspberry Pi firmware.

Raspberry Pi official site says ;
“Touchscreen drivers with support for 10-finger touch and an on-screen keyboard will be integrated into the latest Raspbian OS for full functionality without a physical keyboard or mouse.”

Raspberry Pi display will be around 60$
